Day 1 of the challenge, wow this is hard. (IS that a complaint?) Hardest, is hearing others complain and wanting to tell them to stop! second hardest, is listening to yourself talk and say, " Was that a complaint, or a fact?" Hmm should be an interesting month! Can't wait to hear from others!!
Ha! I found a way out of complaining and it's only the first day!
Everytime I think about something negative, I make myself think of something positive in its place. For example, I might be mad at my dog for knocking over the trash, but then I make myself think of all the times he cuddles with me when I am not feeling well.
Thanks for the challenge, Susan. This is great!
Today is my first day on this challenge and I am excited! Funny but last week my business partner and I had adpoted a new "life line" (my name for a truth to hold on to as we navigate this life). We agreed to leave the office each day, not matter what that day had brought, with an "Attitude of Gratitude". While not an original thought, it is a wonderful reminder of just how blessed we truly are! I remind my little Molly to watch each day for treasures that most people will miss... a beautiful pink sunset, brillant red follage in a forrest of green, an amazing seashell, a heart-shaped rock- little gifts that God places in our lives each day to give us a fresh point of reference, to add beauty to our day, to give our hearts a lift, and to remind us that He's here. I truly believe that a grateful heart is a "blessing magnet", a cup full to overflowing! Here's lifting my cup to you!
Hi all...In my effort to not complain, I've been trying to focus on seeing a positive in every situation, like adrianna was saying. Don't you find it challenging to "not" focus on something, like if I say "Don't think about your car, the first thought in your head is of course going to be your car. So now I guess it's just a matter of remembering to find the positive, right?
Hi Everyone! Well, I must say that this has been interesing so far!! I never realized how many complaining thoughts pop into my head per day....and I really try to be a positive person. I'm sure glad we have our 4 cheats. I lost it last night when, (after having asked my 2 daughter's if they had taken the dog out at least two or three times and having them confirm that they had) the dog went pee all over the tile downstairs and got on my shoes. Big time complaining ensued!! That was 1 cheat used and three to go.(Does mentioning this constitute a fact or a complaint?) Anyway, I give props to all who are participating in this very humbling challenge; trying to improve ourselves and learn from others' mistakes and successes! Success to us all!!!!!!
Drat drat and double drat... Day 4 of the challenge and I had to use up a free card! I was at a restaurant today and found myself complaining about something very trivial. BUT, I did catch myself, and proceeded to give myself a verbal and mental slap..
I am so proud of all of you on this challenge... only 3 1/2 wweks to go, is that a complaint???
Connie, I don't think you used up a free card, I think it was justifiable complaining... (IS there such a thing???) Hugs all!!!
